What is a Hackathon?

Hackathon is a marathon-like event where programmers work in teams to innovate effective solutions to a problem using technology in a specific amount of time. Typically, participants need to produce a working prototype of their solution by the end of the hackathon.

Hackathon is a program that will challenge the participants to get out of their comfort zone and enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Furthermore, hackathons provide students with the opportunity to explore the endless possibility of current technology while working together as a team.

Objective

Our mission is to educate participants on the digital internet and technology. We believe this program will provide a good platform for the students to learn about Industry 4.0, the Internet of Things (IoT), communication, technical, and analytical skills.

Knowledge Intensive

Every stage of this hackathon requires participants to enhance their critical thinking skills while implementing their knowledge to develop effective IoT solutions.

Encourage Collaboration

This competition provides a platform for the students to unleash their creativity and collaboration skills, which are the 2 crucial skills for future learning and career development.

Produce Highly Skilled Talents

By participating in this competition, the students will be able to develop their observation and analytical skills. Students are able to identify problems arising in their surroundings and proceed to develop effective solutions.

Requirements

  • High school students aged 15 – 18y/o ONLY.
  • Each team must consist of 2 – 4 students.
  • Each team is required to have ONE (1) advisor.

  • Each school is allowed to send an unlimited number of teams.

  • Each team may submit ONE (1) idea only.

Hackathon Flow

International Level Smart School IoT Hackathon is organized to teach and guide students to create their own IoT solutions. Therefore, this competition has 4 phases as follows:

Phase 1

IDEA SUBMISSION

All teams need to register and submit their ideas before 16th November 2023.

Phase 2

BRIEFING & BOOTCAMP

All teams are required to attend program briefing and online Bootcamp on IoT.

Phase 3

PROGRAMMING WEEK

The top 30 teams need to develop a prototype of their solutions and submit a video of their presentation.

Phase 4

LIVE PRESENTATION

15 finalists of the hackathon must present their prototype in a Live Pitching session.
